Education

Between 1981 and 1985 I studied the Slavonian Secondary Grammar School, Olomouc. After military service (1985 -1987) I began my university education at the Medical Faculty of Palacký University, Olomouc, where I graduated in 1993 (Master's degree, Doctor of Medicine). Afterwards I began to study at the Faculty of Law of Palacký University, Olomouc. I finished my studies of law in 1998 at the Faculty of Law of Charles University, Prague (Master's degree in law). In 1989 I was a member of the University and National Students Strike Committee.

Work Experience

In 1993-1996 I worked as the Secretary of the Minister of Justice of the Czech Republic. Since 1996 I have been a deputy of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament, between 1998 and 2006 I held the office of the Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament. Since 1991 I have been a member of the Civic Democratic Party where I held the position of the Deputy Chairman between 1998 and 2002 and was appointed again in 2004. I also work as a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Law of Palacký University, Olomouc, where I teach "Legislative process" and "Media and Law".

Professional Experience

Law, national security, crime prevention - I founded "Nadace Bezpečná Olomouc" ("The Safe Olomouc Foundation") - and media. I have been also involved in educational issues; I founded the Civic CEVRO Association - Liberal-Conservative Academy.

Personal values

I highly appreciate freedom as a real-life possibility to control one's own life and to be responsible for it. For me it is important that everyone should be provided with conditions for free decision-making and in my opinion, it is a proper thing that I should contribute to their provision and maintenance.

I highly respect politicians and statesmen such as Winston Churchill, Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. In general, I appreciate all people who managed to overcome obstacles, difficulties or adversities in their lives.

Hobbies

Ball games regardless of the ball size (basketball, volleyball, handball, tennis, golf, etc).
I like theatre, fine arts and music.
